Could barely afford to pay for food, no health insurance, living off of $8 a day? How in the heck could they afford braces for the eldest daughter's teeth? Without question they lived an unusual and controversial nomadic lifestyle, but the whole poverty thing is tough to believe when you see that.

i believe he shows many of the symptoms that bi polar people deal with, he built his life around that. His impulsive decisions, his creativity, non conformities, extreme highs, and yes I saw he had lows. He did work whether it was a job is true he didn't work for the man, but the circus was work, preforming is work. Many highly intelligent and artistic type people are bi polar, be interesting to know what the hospital said. As far as no welfare, children are expensive to have, hospital bills are not cheap, so he has taken advantage of some form of it through out his life. Glad his children have turned out pretty great. I think crossing the ocean bods to the point of his impulsive behaviors, and manic high. Interesting to watch.
