This film was truly quite good. Good acting, good script writing, beautiful costumes and breathtaking Canadian scenery create a good film that IS definitely worth the time to watch. It involves the wonderful Indian culture, their love of musical numbers and, dancing. The only complaint I have is with the director. It's a shame that he allowed or perhaps even suggested the bad guy character, "Randip", to chew gum in the manner which obviously took place in the first few minuites of this film. Man-o-man, "Randip" was working that jaw like the roll bar/carriage of an old, manual typewriter ! ! Could it be that the director thought it would add a "westernized" trait to the character? If he had done his research prior to filming, the director would have found that it's rare to see adult Americans or Canadians chew gum. We enjoy it occasionally, but there is a correct way (etiquette) to publicly chew gum and sadly this handsome actor wasn't taught how to do it. Perhaps he did it this way on purpose or to give a coursenee to the character. Who knows? Gum chewing should be done at the mere minimum of jaw action, keeping lips/mouth closed and in no circumstances are smacking, popping or manual stringing allowed. However, if I were in India and being the plain old human that I am, I can guarantee that I'd do some goofball things that aren't correct in their culture either. Sadly, the director didn't do this talented, handsome actor a favor by allowing it. In my opinion, it served no purpose for the character, but it did stand out like a sore thumb . You can take a gorgeous person, male or female, and observe them chewing, smacking, slobbering, etc. and it will sure-fire kill their allure & sexiness.. Again, I say it's a good movie and the blame for it's one TINY, TINY flaw lies NOT on any one of the talented actors, but "smack-dab" in the hands of it's director. I enjoyed this film and hope others will also.
