I'm just finishing up the last in the five volumes of GK Chesterton's marvelous Father Brown mysteries. Father Brown was the only thing that could hold a candle to Sherlock Holmes (and is in fact much better!), so maybe it's because I'm in an old English mystery frame of mind tonight that made me so glad to see this movie. It would be easy to describe this as a who-done-it, but that's not exactly correct. We know who did it from the beginning. There are no tricky turns here. We know a man is bent on committing murder. The question is, how will it be proved?, and how will he be stopped? There may be a little over-acting here and there, but all in all, this was a very enjoyable old film that is about much more than mere honey.
