Sherlock Holmes' Fatal Hour

Far too dry for me, I could barely get past the first 6 minutes. You can't tell by looking at them who's Watson and who's Holmes unless they are addressed as such. The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes series was the best by far to me, there was comic relief included there and lots more suspenseful.

Quaint - but totally a breath of fresh air. This one is earlier than I'm used to so it was good to find. Loved the subtle Nazi hints. Enjoyed watching Holmes struggle to keep his pipe lit, striking match upon match to get a respectable draw. Finally saw the face of Professor Moriarty. Holmes even played the violin! Thanks Hulu for posting this one.

In this movie, Holmes says "Elimentary, my dear Watson" several times. Most people associate this with Sherlock Holmes as a standard phrase. This NEVER appears in any of the original stories by Sir Doyle. Therefore, we can deduce this turn of phrase originated in a later play or story written by one of the copy-cat authors. I wonder if this is the the first usage or if it had become common place by the time this movie came out. ??

lol..you gotta love these originals! ....the simpleness of the characters and witty deductions of Mr. Holmes are what makes this an enjoyable movie. Thanx Hulu

And the opening scene is like watching radio. All that aside, I rather enjoyed it. The long silences, the crackle and pops of the film, were very relaxing.

Because of the time period of the film the lighting is not always the best. With that said I believe that it was very enjoyable. I am ready for the next one.

Sherlock Holmes' Fatal Hour marked the first of five appearances by Arthur Wontner in the role of Holmes. Based on two Conan Doyle stories, The Final Problem and The Empty House, the story begins with a robbery and murder at a London bank. Holmes is certain that the mastermind behind this and several related crimes is his old nemesis, Professor Moriarty. Racing against time, Holmes and his aide Dr. Watson (Ian Fleming) try to prevent young diplomat Roland Adair from becoming a reluctant accomplice to Moriarty's latest scheme.
