Played it… Yeah, believe the reviews, it’s basically what you would expect. The graphics are nicely realized I’ll admit. Overall the engine is smooth. Problem is too many scripted action scenes with fast respawn rates in predictable AI patterns, offering very little sense of reward. Quests are "go there, do something."Things happen automatically as you “level” or gain experience. No real appreciable stat bonus otherwise, at least that is outlined. So, nothing to work on there. Overall linear gear improvements provided at these arbitrary “bonus” intervals. No sense of discovery, no relevance to the environment or progress in any meaningful way. Lazy. Really lazy.Basically it just scoots you through the scenery, then when it gets to the point where you think “OK finally, the training sequences are over,” that’s when the credits roll. I kid you not!Plus they went with the Na’vi as literally primitive rather than supremely advanced ala the Nox or some such, where this whole “connection to the earth” humanoid thing was a hologram they designed for our benefit. The later would at least have been interesting. But there is no appreciable sense of meaning in the concepts the Na’vi are shown to represent in the game. They’re basically blue for the sake of there being a blue team to shoot at.At least the graphics are getting better, slowly.Still waiting for a worthy WoW killer…
