Kenshin is probably my favorite anime of all time, though it's a close race. Kudos to Hulu for bringing so many episodes online at once.
But why oh WHY did they choose this dub? The characters don't even pronounce each others' names correctly. There is a much better English dub out there which is at least passable. The original Japanese is fine too. Yet somewhere they dug up this joke of a dub... shame. Also, "Samurai X?" What, "Rurouni Kenshin" was too foreign? Oh well, that is a relatively trivial detail; "a rose by any other name..." Seriously though, this dub RUINS the series.
For those of you wondering, the long-running show itself is great. It takes place over three major plot "arcs"—a very fun introductory series of episodes establishing the characters, the dramatic climax of the series (when the characters all go to another city—don't worry, I won't spoil anything), and a rather disappointing final arc where the series deviates from the manga and really jumps the shark. Watch the two first arcs and you'll get the best of the show.
If you enjoy this, be sure to check out the Kenshin OVA series "Trust" and "Betrayal." They are consistently rated the NUMBER ONE ANIME on the Anime News Network database, they are simply phenomenal. But be aware they are VERY different in tone and violence from the show; they depict Kenshin as his former assassin self, and it is a dark and mature take on the plot. Save watching this until midway through arc #2, after you see some real glimpses into Kenshin's past.
