Fox-TV is STUPID

They are NOT bringing New Amsterdam back 2008-09! FOOLS!!! Where will I get my Nikolaj "fix" now???

Excellent but familiar ...

I find this series to be an excellent treatment of an intriguing subject. The protagonist is clearly a man of high ideals and noble character. It's too bad the producers of the series didn't possess these same traits or they would have credited Pete Hamill and his outstanding novel "Forever", published in 2003. It is EXACTLY the same character, story line and plot!

Looking forward to more

The best shows realize that we get bored. So usually they have more than 1 storyline at a time. Few sci-fi shows do this but the potential for New Amsterdam is very good. The only time these shows loose their greatness is when these small stories never end. The good thing about this show is you have 400 years of experiences to draw from, current crimes and current relationships and character development. Please keep this show on!!!

Has some promise

The acting is mixed, the actual detective story is mediocre and the occult elements seem a little hackneyed, but the character concept itself has promise. The curse is a bad start to an interesting idea. And the music is quite good.

New interpretation of old plot

The show was an OK twist on the idea of the eternal soldier - that Roman soldier who was cursed by Christ to walk the earth. I generally hate police shows, so this was an exception for me. What I don't understand is exactly what this guy did to the Indian woman that was bad enough to get cursed like that.

Not Bad....

...but I couldn't help but notice that the main character talked like Connor McLeod in Highlander. I wonder if that was intentional. Immortals in New York.
