Which makes me wonder why you would do this to him?!?!?! This movie looks awful, as if no one did a single thing to help make it relevant to the new century. I like the idea of a classic script and a stylized film, but this just looks like a Hallmark movie or the never aired fifth installment of the Anne of Green Gables series, you know the one where Montgomery got drunk and fell asleep during "gone with the wind." Plus, a screenplay from the 70's by T.W. that didn't get made, probably didn't get made for a reason! If he or the studios passed on it, they must have had more fo a reason that it was "lost" for 30 years, Hollywood would practically make a movie out of his doodles at the time due to the success of his other films and plays. Not to mention that Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Evans seem horribly suited for this film. He doesn't look realistic as a farm hand, and she is awkward with the accent and doesn;t seem to ever fully commit to anything she says. Does anyone remember Williams' real leading men and ladies? People like Marlon Brando, Laurence Olivier, Natalie Wood, Katherine Hepburn, Paul Newman, Elizabeth Taylor, Burt Lancaster, Jane Wyman, Kirk Douglas, and so many more. So you decide to make his never before seen script and cast...the human torch and the lady in the water?!?!? Honestly when i first watched this I figured it was a gag by SNL or the like. The preview shows every cliche tacky film trick that Americans have become too jaded to really connect with, and the story itself seems about as strong as something you would find in the 3 dollar bin at Walmart. The only reason I didn't write a letter to HULU asking for my three minutes of trailer watching time back was the two second appearance of Ellyn Bursten and the mention of Ann-Margaret. Can someone please tell these two that they need to pick better next time?
