since most here don't seem to understand, i'll simplify what you have said.
this is light/mild guy-on-guy stuff, or in other words shounen ai (lit. boy love) this genera is directed towards females and yes, it is literally gay. (i do not mean to offend and gay or lesbian people) the guy in white likes men. simple as that.

Vampires and other supernatural folks who feed off of blood or energy knows that the easiest and quickest way to gain access is through emotional lust so they trigger it in their victims for no other purposes of easy feeding. Its the same thing with mind controll. Manipulate the emotions to gain power over the mind.

This anime is only a very tiny part of a shounen-ai (boy's love) manga (paperback comic) series. It was made before the manga was finished, so is only 13 episodes, only going through about volume 6 of the manga.

The anime is actually very good, though the dubbed version is an atrocity - a subtitled version is far superior, and actually has much better dialogue and far better voice acting.

For those who complain about the sakura petals, (cherry blossom petals), or the fact that this is "gay" - yes, it is a shounen-ai series, and is meant to be so. Shounen-ai is a highly popular genre in Japan.
