‘Capitalist’ competitiveness in the free market of wants of course may tend to support diversity and quality of industry and works in many scenarios, but without a baseline social standard that gives all a platform for basic lifestyle solvency, of independent security, the majority are still left subject to the same old marginalizing authority of station and agenda, which is by and large a crap shoot as one student pointed out.
The de facto state of the sum of all context in complex modern terms, left as-is without a safety net so to speak, would also seem a striking regression of the Great American ideal of freedom and democracy…
Exponential complexity means exponential risk of being leveraged out of existence, being unable ever to afford to defend oneself and therefore really even begin, and forcing people to “adapt” to one short-term strategy or another in such an environment to afford these things is unnecessary and cruel.
It would seem like a relatively simple tradeoff, but somehow intelligent life on this planet still has trouble justifying investment in its own essential happiness, too desperate in the absence of such a stabilizing force to sell contrived presentation and nuanced conformity as a product.
We do seem to get stuck on extremes beyond what modern context would tend to paint as rational. Democrat vs. Republican, Capitalism vs. Communism, Freedom vs. Assimilation...
I challenge either of you to hear and invest in my design.
