Much respect for the OCFA. But as a 13 yr vet with a large department I know that what we are seeing is Hollywood infiltratiing the structure of this academy. All that extra they are doing is somewhat over the top. I am with my second department as alot of these guys are and i think if the cameras were not there alot of the stuff we are seeing probably would not happen. The PT the drills are what they are, it's not all this extra life/death scenarios. Yes they need to be fundamentally sound, but they will learn those in's and out's when they get to a house.

For anyone who is apart of the field of EMS we all know that we work for many many years trying to become a firefighter/paramedic for you to have the opportunity to even be apart of a department academy is a supreme accomplishment to me and you got some of these guys moping around with no heart, lack of integrity and really no freakin balls to be honest with you. Balls to the wall boys and girls if you have to vomit during pt because your giving your all do so because it shows heart and integrity this is your time to have the greatest career in the world and you got some of them who really dont see that, its getting interesting to see who will drop out eventually due to their lack of appreciation for what they have accomplished. Accountability, attention to detail, integrity, heart, compassion make up a real ff thats why any of this is way more difficult than any other type of profession because not anyone can handle that....
