Every time I watched MadTV, I honestly did not think that they put much effort into their show. Although MadTV and SNL are both the same kind of format, I believe a lot of it has to do with the writing. Just because you don't laugh at a skit doesn't mean it's not funny. I've observed that MadTV just does something outrageous or zany just to get a few cheap laughs, but SNL tends to create deeper, more intricate sketches that you either get or you don't.

Hell, they actually got me to laugh at a Megan Fox sketch. Now THAT'S impressive.

The writing was brilliant and showcased Swift's talents. I was surprised at how versatile and seriously funny she was. She is way more than a singer and SNL made sure we could see it. The OP is provoking, seems protective of Swift and has been off their meds a little too long. See 8 other replies

had to watch this one hosted by taylor swift after another review claimed that it is SNL's best episode so far this season.

well it's kind of a close call with the day Gerard Butler hosted. both episodes had a one or two decent skits plus one hilarious skit.

One last thing to say about SNL. Lately, the only funny, repeating sketch seems to be the Scared Straight skit. The movie spoofs and innuendos usually make me laugh, plus it's great to see the guys break character.
