Pro-choice here, and if michela didn't beat me to it, I would have informed you that you are extremely wrong with your so-called facts, and may I ask who "they" is? Although you may see a fetus as a independent life-form, you are sadly wrong; a fetus is not, it relies totally upon the sustenance of the mother; if one is objective to the facts of pregnancy you will see it is a parasitic relationship between fetus and mother. Throughout the pregnancy, which is moment of conception, not the process of; and through the final birthing stages. The only mutual benefits is mere psychological processes that are implanted into the nature of life; for if humans or any other animals didn't see any benefit from the birthing then we as an species would have died out long ago. To address the idea of abortion; since the ideal that the fetus is not a self sufficient life form, and in some cases more a "growth" upon the mother; it should be the choice of the mother whether to remove this "growth", or to let it grow and become its own living being. If we choose as a nation to infringe upon the rights of the individual mother whether she can or not abort a pregnancy; then we should do so for patients who wish to remove growths; or parasites from their bodies. Where do we as humans begin to have the right to decide whether another human can not make a decision that affects only themselves and their partner; for do we believe it is morally right to infringe upon their rights on whether to undergo any operation without the approval of their fellow beings. I believe if a human has the right to make the decision to perform consensual sexual intercourse then they should have the right to undergo the operation to abort. Where exactly did you get the "rob or kill people" idea from? We aren't talking about that, so don't even try to compare those things to the issues at hand. Of course I don't think people should rob or kill people who are, not only past the point of no return in pregnancy, but beyond and fully grown. You can't validate your own view on abortion by saying that if someone supports reproductive rights, they are supporting full-blown murder of fully developed and aware humans, theft, robbery, rape, terrorism, whatever. I didn't say people should have the right or be able to do those particular things and us not to worry about it because they might "feel" it's "right", I was only talking about the issues of abortion and meat eating.
So, please, don't make stupid comparisons that don't apply or make sense.
I won't even bother to say anything else, though. Just realize that maybe other people have a different way of viewing abortion, and, unlike robbery and the wanton and senseless murder of born and developed humans (or humans beyond the 4th or 6th week of pregnancy, if one must mention that), which is pretty much considered wrong by everybody, abortion is something that can either be right or wrong, is either not cared about much by many, and may be both supported and opposed by equal (more or less) numbers of people, an issue which has many ethical and scientific questions and views... Sometimes, some people may want to stay out of it and just not worry about it. That's what I meant. That's all. But I'm sure you won't agree, being someone with a cause, especially the pro-life kind (either abortion or animal rights even, for those people), I'm sure you'd be one to stick to playing the guilt and stupid comparisons and connections card.   See 7 other replies

Wow your argument is completely hypocritical. You're basically saying that because someone FEELS something is right doesn't make it so. Than why should anyone listen to you, when you yourself FEEL that you are on the right side. Get down off your pedestal. Okay, big pro-lifer here too, but you've got your fetal development facts wrong. It's not until the sixth week that there's anything heart-like to do any beating, and there still isn't anything resembling a human face until the beginning of the fourth month. Not that being heartless, faceless miniscule blobs of cells makes their DNA any less human than ours, or makes killing them any less monstrous than murder, particularly if it's for a reason as idiotic and selfish as body image.On the subject of the chickens, though, I fully and unrepentantly embrace my omnivorous nature, and I have a friend who gleefully named her chickens Fried, Rotisserie, and Grilled at my suggestion.   See 7 other replies
