If you want to talk about abortion, go to some political blog or something--there are literally thousands of them out there. Go ahead, you'll have a great time. You can get in some terrific fights. Which topic do you think a popular television show is going to tackle: killing chickens or aborting babies? I can guarantee you that the show is NOT going to do a story on a concept that will polarize it fans in the extreme. While both issues are polarizing (this thread is proof), killing chickens is the safer bet for a TV show that wants to stay on the air.How many advertisers do you think would drop their support of Bones if they started talking about abortion? In the TV shows that I have seen that included some aspect of abortion, it has always been as a lesser aspect of the entire storyline. You have no right to condem someone for doing what they feel is right. Is it right to keep the baby knowing that you cannot love and provide for it? It come down to how the woman feels emotionally, physically and psychologically. A woman can now tell within a week if she is pregnant and how far along, with new tests and breakthroughs. I don't approve of young girls using it as a contraceptive or 'quick fix', but at the same time i don't think we should stop a woman who for example was raped from aborting if she feels that is the right thing to do.   See 11 other replies

I'm not saying that a pig's life is equal to a human life, but I'm saying that she sees value in the saving of individual lives, in that although it won't make a broad difference, it will make a difference in that one life, her own work identifying bodies and catching murderers doesn't "change the world" but it does make a difference to the loved ones of the people she identifies, thus making a difference on a smaller level is something she sees value in. Also I would never suggest a pig's life is equal to that of a human, but making a difference on a smaller scale, vastly changing an individual life can be good, but that's not the point I'm arguing. I'm simply arguing that it's a flaw in the writing of Brennans character, and the writers were clearly struggling to give her something to fight with Angela about.   See 12 other replies

Pro-choice here, and if michela didn't beat me to it, I would have informed you that you are extremely wrong with your so-called facts, and may I ask who "they" is? Although you may see a fetus as a independent life-form, you are sadly wrong; a fetus is not, it relies totally upon the sustenance of the mother; if one is objective to the facts of pregnancy you will see it is a parasitic relationship between fetus and mother. Throughout the pregnancy, which is moment of conception, not the process of; and through the final birthing stages. The only mutual benefits is mere psychological processes that are implanted into the nature of life; for if humans or any other animals didn't see any benefit from the birthing then we as an species would have died out long ago. To address the idea of abortion; since the ideal that the fetus is not a self sufficient life form, and in some cases more a "growth" upon the mother; it should be the choice of the mother whether to remove this "growth", or to let it grow and become its own living being. If we choose as a nation to infringe upon the rights of the individual mother whether she can or not abort a pregnancy; then we should do so for patients who wish to remove growths; or parasites from their bodies. Where do we as humans begin to have the right to decide whether another human can not make a decision that affects only themselves and their partner; for do we believe it is morally right to infringe upon their rights on whether to undergo any operation without the approval of their fellow beings. I believe if a human has the right to make the decision to perform consensual sexual intercourse then they should have the right to undergo the operation to abort.
