Just to set the record straight Fox and NBC sold Disney (ABC's owner) a full 27% interest in HULU.com which is the same amount that they each have. So no one is screwing with Disney - No one every screws with Disney! The delay is not hulu's fault, it's decided by the submitting party, in this case ABC and the delays are usually driven by either the desire to make us all watch it on the Broadcast channel first (it's the Nielsens stupid!) or because they intent to rebroadcast in the interim, like over the holidays, so they delay to make us watch it a second time on broadcast. If someone can't watch it any other way than Hulu, then there's no advantage to the content providers to show it the same day. For that person, the original air date is whatever date the show appears online, whether that date is the same as for the TV broadcast or not.

So the content providers are trying to figure out what to do about the people who can watch it on TV. Since TV commercials make more revenue than Hulu, they're probably trying to figure out the right balance to get people to prioritize watching it on TV, but then watch it online if they missed it on TV.
