It would be just as easy to have something 'happen' to him in prison (before he escaped) and at that time, Kate thought she knew where Neil was hiding his loot.She may be assisting whoever has her, but I'd rather believe it's in an effort to keep Neil safe and alive, rather than any desire for money. *shrugs*   See 7 other replies

They shot 13 episodes and the next is 7 so the mystery will not be solved for a while. However Neal is valuable not only for his skills at solving difficult cases and working undercover, but also for the not recovered art, stocks and money. Remember Cruz said he was implicated in another dozen frauds, swindles and thefts. So who wants his money.?Neal can be blackmailed as the Interpol agent showed. I think for the story it would be better if Kate is an accomplice. It is too incredible that she can make calls and leave clues if she totally under the control of someone else. It is not like they are threatening Neal's life and Neal can get sent back to prison from many people so that is not a threat that is good enough to use. Plus once back in prison he can't be touched.I can understand a frame to get Neal to give up info, but Neal is slippery and will turn the tables like he did with the Interpol agent. That is Peter's fear that Neal is playing him somehow.

FBI does not give out op sec details like they are going to play Neal with Nick Holden in a op that was put together in 24 hours. So yes Interpol had to have an information source since that is not info used. I agree once Nick Halden was activated that with word on street that they may have picture of NIck as Neal. It would be very easy for Interpol to peg Neal as a flipped asset for the FBI without an informant. They knew he was supposed to be in prison, they knew his alias and knew it was being used, and his alias would have been flagged well before the meeting so they would know what he looked like from his file. None of this requires an asset within the FBI.The FBI rogue operative theory has no credibility based on this episode, not from the raid, and certainly not from the self serving statements of an Interpol agent who has zero motivation to help Neal and loads of motivation to turn him against the FBI.   See 7 other replies

This was the best episode other than the pilot. It had greater suspense and mystery. From the Interpol agent playing Neal and getting him to flip and Peter figuring that out. However Interpol had to call the NYPD raid before Neal even came in. So there is a leak in the FBI that knew that Neal as Nick Halden was going to be there. If the info that just Nick Halden was going to be there then the raid would not have been called so they had to know it was Neal as an FBI undercover operative. That goes with the idea that a person in the FBI is after Neal's money and trying to set him up in order to pressure him, since using Kate failed when Neal refused to give up the location. Peter is getting to realize that Neal can be played with Kate and now knows that other LEO organizations will use that vulnerability, so that may give Peter more motivation to solve the Kate mystery in order to make sure that Neal can not be flipped. Peter's main motivation is to have Neal as his partner and loyal to Peter's needs and goals. Neal obliges except for Kate.The writing has been weak in the previous episodes. The buddy relationship is good but the story has to be good also.The next episode seems like it will be good.   See 7 other replies
