The Colbert Nation goes crazy because they like to listen to him. Hes funny. He doesnt have to rely on security to keep them quiet when he needs them to be. In fact in the Nov 19th episode the crowd was laughing and couldnt hear a sound effect and he just had to "shh" them. I feel like some ppl just like to b!#$. See 4 other replies

The audience cheering has been bugging me for a while now. And they burst out at the most inanae times. If Colbert says something, I dunno, like just the word "weed" or "beer" they go insane.

I'm pretty sure, though, that the stage manager (or whoever) has control over audience response like on most live shows. So most likely this is on purpose. Half of Colbert is about testing how far he can go on his own hype. It's an interesting sociological experiment, at the very least. See 4 other replies

I kinda like Ammiano, but his outburst was stupid (funny, but stupid).

I really hope Schwarzenegger did the f u thing on purpose. That would be hilarious, I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on. See 2 other replies

Russell, most people I know (myself included) do not need their heritage recognized on a daily basis. It's good to be represented in politics and such, but often type the front part of the hyphen seems like a modification that says not a true American. Like Turkey-Bacon or soy-chicken (sorry, I'm hungry).

Next time you see one of us "hyphenated americans" go ahead and ignore the hyphenated part. We appreciate it without :)

As for the actual show, I felt it was good enough. Made its point. He could have been a bit clearer with pointing out how long Meb's been here, but it wasnt bad.
