Almost everyone who receives ECT suffers PERMANENT loss of memory and loss of cognitive function, meaning they have difficulty relearning new information and analyzing it. This is documented in the book "Doctors of Deception" by Linda Andre (Rutgers University Press, NY, 2009). There is even a group, Committee for Truth in Psychiatry (NOT Scientologists!), composed of over 500 ECT victims, all who've lost memory anywhere from months to years and their memories have never come back as well as cognitive loss. The FDA currently classifies ECT machines as Class III, meaning they're likely to cause more harm than good. But they remain on the market to ruin more lives because of shows like this! This show promotes the lie spread by the American Psychiatric Association that memory and cognitive loss is rare and temporary. Yes, patients will feel euphoric for a month or two after being shocked but will need repeated brain-damaging treatments throughout their lives. People watching this junk and reading ECT industry propaganda will be be fooled to take the quick-fix. And there is currently no way to un-fix ECT brain damage. Shame on ABC!!!!!
