Wow - what a lot of sourpusses out there. I'm just shocked considering the wretchedness of most tv fare. This episode was good! No, it wasn't great, but it was still better than 80% of the crapola out there. I'm an old fart and I had absolutely no problem with the subject matter. I enjoy the actress who plays the daughter and was glad to see her with a bit more to do. As to the music, the producer/manager said that she was gonna be the next Gwen Stefani! YEESH! So what do you expect? She's young and just starting out. Why does she have to be magnificent? Can't she just be pretty good with potential? My god I am so sick of all this over-the-top extreme nit-picking malicious criticism. And you guys with the ego problems really need to get over yourselves. ENJOY something for a change instead of sitting there taking notes of every teeny tiny eensy weensy thing you hate. The show is supposed to be FUN!

Very good but, understandably, not for younger audience! You have to see enough to understand this script, mixing the generations, three in this case. Actors did well, and whoever complains about "simple" script, really have to live a couple more year. You can only put a story in a compressed format in TV, much less than for example in book and definitely much, much less than in real life. Castle may not be the greatest but it really has right attitude, actors, whatever. That aside - I hope this doesn't get canceled, so much better than some "reality" shows!

Look, I realize I'm not the target demographic, but this was a horrendously predictable, Diagnosis Murder quality plot. Add insult to injury with the horrible singing throughout. The show's earlier episodes started with some promise, but I'd expect a little better from a show that has Stephen Cannell and James Patterson guest star in cameos should aspire to provide slightly higher quality than this drivel. Hope Ep 8 is better, or it's off the Hulu list.
