I really enjoyed this movie. I found it entertaining and informative. The concepts were clearly explained and a number of views were represented. I like local downtowns and the diversity of local mom and pop businesses and always try to stay in such towns and hotels when I travel and live in a city that thrives on local business, Bainbridge Island, WA. I always look to buy what I can in local independant stores and find them not to be more expensive. Because they rely on me coming back over and over they offer excellent customer service. I tend to find higher quality items there and need to buy and replace my items less because they are quality items and people stand behind them. If I can't find something in my favorite local stores that I want I will usually try to ask them to order it, and if something is just too expensive locally I will usually give them the opportunity to compete. Often if I talk to a business owner and let them know that I can get an item for some extremelly lower price elsewhere they will work with me. Now, of course they often can't go quite as low as online or big box bulk buyers for some things, but they will knock some off and make it more affordable. Often the prices are competitive, but when they are still a little high I feel okay about it because it keeps my downtown busy, diverse, and good. This keeps my house worth more, my neighbors employed, and my community able to pay for services and public works. It's worth it!One small addition to keep in mind is to be careful of what items I buy online and where I buy them online. I love saving money, but it's very hard for some businesses to compete. They have to pay rent and electricity and taxes and online shops don't. So, I give them a chance to meet or come close, but when they can't and I really must order online I try to order from other independant businesses online. It's surprisingly more affordable and convenient to live this way that you'd imagine.. and soo sooo worth it.
