The braces are symbolic, guys. They are a reminder that she's still in progress, and they distinguish her from all of the perfect people at Mode. The point of the show is that she's a beautiful person who is growing up (personally and professionally). It's painfully obvious to state, but UB is not about giving us a pretty heroine - it's about reminding us that the the value of a person doesn't lie in their outward appearance.

I'm sure they will come off sometime this season (as they've hinted), but when they do, I'm sure it will be woven into the story and used to show Betty's development, not simply to make her hot. See 2 other replies

Ummmm.... Just because one person is portrayed as a 'murderer' doesn't mean that we all associate everyone of that type as a murderer. Niko doesn't make me feel at all like treating people that look like her as murderers, and yes, I would realize the affect. I think it's you that's being racist here.

I'm glad that (at least for now) that Betty and the gay guy are getting along. It's nice to see a happy ending for once. The show was still plagued, however, by the whole politician scandal mess. It was stupid, ill-presented, and, oh, did I mention stupid?
