Actually Georgia's state song has been ' Georgia On My Mind" since 1979. I'm from Nashville and I can tell you that the music at the end was not Rocky Top. It was just something "Southern" sounding. Why does everyone think that we're all idiots down here? Granted, I know a few idiots. I know that a few weeks ago I had read that some survey said that Nashville is the friendliest city in America. That has to count for something. Also, Stone Mountain is actually pretty cool. They have a very big 4th of July blow-out and it's definitely worth checking out.   See 4 other replies

I should have typed, "Did they explicitly communicate that "Rocky Top" is Georgia's state song?" I don't think they did, so it's not misrepresentation, it's a joke just like their portrayal of Stone Mountain itself. I live in a completely different part of the country, and I certainly wouldn't consider this episode the equivalent of a tourist brochure.I'm pretty sure that the Dukes of Hazard song would have cost more to use. If they spend too much of their budget on the ending credits music, the episode itself is gonna suffer. We have to remember that when they decide to have fun with the music, they have to deal with getting the rights to use it, too.   See 4 other replies

Yes, Rocky Top is Tennessee's song. It's such a Tennessee song, that it says so right in the lyrics... "Rocky Top Tennessee." And as to whether it fit they atmosphere, they could have played the Dukes of Hazard theme, and it would have fit better than that awful Tennessee tune!   See 4 other replies
