I must admit, I agree. I thought being the year 2009, going on '10, people would be over this sort of.... "white boy does good" movie sort. It just doesn't seem that big of a deal anymore. All that racist crap happened 100 years ago, no one is alive now to be offended.

That would make it another movie with money and marketing spent on further perpetuating the idea that the "white man" will save the melanites --suggesting inferiority, dependence, servitude, and so on.Common sense tells us that just because something is a true story doesn't mean that each character's "Truth" is being conveyed. And it also doesn't mean that the investors don't have their idea of what messages in this "based on a true story" film should be highlighted. The trailer does have that connotation to it. I agree with you there Casual Guy. But I see something else as well. I guess we'll have to watch the entire film to draw a conclusion. Clint Eastwood is the director and one of the producers. Even though this is a true story the focus seems to be on Matt Damon's character and what Mandela wants him to do. However, I think the overall message is that both groups of South Africans have to unite in order to get past the hurt and dark history of their country., As far as the accent if concerned, he probably didn't want to push it too far and end up sounding awful.
