Yes, But you are judging people aren't you? You base your "judgement" on a book, but that doesn't absolve you of the responsibility for your own opinion (remember you judge that book to be a high morale authority, no one makes you believe that, you choose it.) So whether or not you judge gay people and pregnant unmarried women to be less than because of your own line of reasoning or because you have decided to hand over your reasoning to a religious group, doesn't change the fact that you are making the decision to believe this stuff.You cant run around calling people "Sinners" and then say "oh that book made me think it!"As far as the Anglican Priest goes, while I am more in line with his politics, I think you are right in pointing out that he's not really following the law laid out in the old testament... then again, neither are Christian women in the teaching profession. Do you call out their hypocrisy too?Most people pick and choose what parts of scripture to adhere to and they almost always rationalize it by saying Jesus was all about love and forgiveness... but if you actually read the bible there are PLENTY of sins in the old and new testament that are actively engaged in by churches and self-proclaimed Christians which never seem to be grounds for keeping someone from becoming a religious leader.So maybe this isn't about the bible or scripture or religion at all, it's just a convenient excuse for prejudice.
