Getting a little too bloody and disgusting for my taste, but still...
Liked the takeoff on "Sweeney Todd" with the incredible orchestral music, self-serving and callous Moe, infinitely gullible Marge, team of horses straining to pull Homer, backstage delay, and jaded stage hand with fire extinguisher.
Liked Homer's facetious monster-sequence line, "It's not cheating when you're wearing a disguise." And the concept that even monsters have relationships and want to fit in. And the idea that scary, hell-raising monsters can be cowed not by extraordinary, superhuman means, but simply by nagging, spying monster spouses.
Liked the mad-cow disease reference and vegetarianism plug in the cannibal zombie sequence. Even tho' I'm not veg. And always like the portrayal of Krusty as a manipulative, greedy creep behind a smiling clown face, almost always representing American capitalism gone wrong, except for a couple episodes. But Krusty has a tiny bit of goodness in the occasional episode, unlike many industrial magnates.
I applaud the fact that the writers use their enormous leverage to air social commentary, while often still being funny.
