How come they have the "familiar" theme in the first two episodes and then changed it in episode 3? I think someone thought the one used in episode three was more sophisticated, then they went back to the original theme because it fit the goof ball attitude of Magnum. See 3 other replies

That is the original opening theme to the show. It got changed later in the 1st season. I believe starting with episode 12 we hear the familiar theme that everyone remembers. See 3 other replies

Cool episode . The bad kungfu guy was cool. But what happened to the theme song. Why did they change it?

Fantastic photography in this episode. Nice framing. Bellisario is a good director. Made me really feel like I was on those beaches and flying near that water, or hanging around the seedy parts of town at night. Also really appreciated that Chinese garden. China Doll really sets up the relationship between Magnum and Higgins for the rest of the series. Mai Ling is so beautiful to look at. And wow! Magnum speaks French and Vietnamese. Nice to establish that in the 3rd episode for what I know are future important story arcs having to do with Magnum's personal life. But what's up with that bunk title song though?

But I'm not sure why they added the Six Million Dollar Man/Bionic Woman sound effects during the graveyard scene. I found it a bit amusing.
