They dont understand how he can be a scientist, where they need evidence and facts, but put all his faith in a god, which there is no evidence for. Its exactly the same as when Bones is derogatry about Booths Catholic faith. She doesnt understand it, because she is not religious. And i thought it explained well why he faked his accent - because he though that if they thought he was from a religious country they would not question his religion as much. He didn't even have a Iranian accent and Bones seemed to have figured it out long before, but she wasn't bothered by it. I think he just chose an asian country that would be believable, but that not many poeple would know about.   See 25 other replies
