The movie is awesome. great fun. The music is wonderful. It is absurd. That's just what it is. Whatever...Benjamin Butthead won best picture Oscar; that movie is trash compared to Jaani Dost.
This is a great spoof on Western stereotypes and the history of moviemaking --- from Charlie Chaplin's M. Verdoux to the Lion King--there are two. One is dressed in black (Hopalong Cassidy?) and one in white. Haven't I seen Tony Curtis in that get-up? I don't think chimps and lions are native to India---its India's version of Tarzan.I think it was supposed to be funny (!) and it is.
I suppose this is one of the bollywood stereotypes from the 80s. Awful direction, mediocre acting, melodramatic plot. Real question is how Hulu decided to pick this movie for its library.
