When I heard that Al Gore was starting a TV network to appeal to the Internet generation, I thought that he was off his rocker. Well, I already thought that he was off his rocker, but that was because he was like a robot in all of the TV interviews I saw him do in his presidential run. It's a shame, too, because we then got 8 years of Bush. Oh, wait, the election was stolen! Both times! And Gore sued to try to make sure that it wasn't stolen from him! And then the supreme court, not the people of the US, CHOSE our new president!
Anyway, enough about Gore. Vanguard is a GREAT news program. I don't know what the other current.tv offerings are like, but at least this one is good.
Who knew? It seems that you CAN transition from politics to media and do a GREAT job, too.

Worst Vanguard ever... and the highest rated...I wonder why. I really wish people would, for once, disprove the "sex sells" mantra...

People will shoot themselves, drive off cliffs and huff gasoline... Drugs serve an important purpose in our society and it has reached a critical mass as to the fact that those that need them can barely get them. Punish the person that did the crimes instead of what ever substance was in their system at the time...
And if children are getting them punish the GD parent.. sheesh.

I started out with the intent not to like any of these programs. The tragically hip, photogenic young people in the illustration of the series suggested shallow, MTV-like fluff or "reality-tv" garbage. But this is actually a solid news show: I can understand the narration. The camerawork is steady. The topics are understandable, yet touch on real issues that impact the lives of people all over the world. The tone of the series is NOT a barely-concealed political agenda. More than 30 seconds are spent on topics so that extended ideas are developed and explored. Although there is just a bit too much time devoted to showing the personalities and reactions of the presenters, the flow of the program packs a great deal of information into each episode. For all these reasons, this is a very ground-breaking and unusual documentary program! I commend this program for taking such a great risk and doing things few contemporary news documentary programs have the guts to do--present news in an understandable and clear way!

Vanguard is more objective than most news programs and documentaries out there today. They let the viewer draw their own conclusion. I feel that in today’s reporting by main stream media, the producers have a specific "story" that they want told even before they begin filming. They want to have an undertone of subjectivity to a view that their audience will be sympathetic to in order to boost ratings, etc. When this isn't the case they are just showing the obvious. Vanguard, on the other hand, also reports on the "obvious" or what's in front of them but they also go a step further to show the whole story and opposing views regardless of how unpopular they may be. Not to mention the topics are interesting, varied, and informative.

but please, for the love of god, drop your segway music... its terrible and sounds like the loop from the song 'Where Have All The Cowboys Gone'... which is a horrific song.

Initially, I had high hopes for this news infotainment program, but every episode is so full of errors and misinformation, that I wonder if they have a fact-checker at all.

current is the best thing to happen to television in a very long time and vanguard is what they do best. hulu, this is the best addition you've ever made. keep up the awesomeness!
