It wasn't created for BBC, it was created for ITV4. This is why the commercials and blackouts don't match up. It was developed as a serial, not a series, so it has an ending but, as with Torchwood, motivations were left outstanding in the event ITV4 wanted another serial. There is an official website, as listed in wiki, where an interview with the writer/ director spells it out. He's a little disengenuous because he says Brits don't do sci-fi yet Dr. Who is the longest running series in the genre, with Torchwood being a spin-off. He did write a work-up for a sequel but it didn't work and the American version, which he was not involved with, never made it to the screen. See 5 other replies

These 6 episodes are excellent. May have been filmed before their time. Wow this show needs to be resurrected. Hope some of the creators and actors are willing to bring this back. Maybe bring this to the US. Bring the Brits with you though. The US has several Vampire sagas going and I lucky to even tune to the next episode. I could see this going for many seasons in many directions. Wow I love show.

That's a good question. The first Sookie Stackhouse novel was published three years after this show premiered. Plenty of time to "incorporate" the idea.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that this series brought up the concept of artificial blood that was the main premise for the vampires to go public in True Blood? I smell a bit of device borrowing here.
