Title
T.J. Hooker
Description
After his partner was murdered, veteran plain clothes Detective T.J. Hooker (William Shatner) had reverted back to his former role as Sergeant, and vowed to rid the streets of the type of scum that was responsible for his partner's death. Back in uniform, Hooker was assigned to train the academy recruits, and was partnered with brash, sometimes hot-headed young rookie Vince Romano (Adrian Zmed). With Romano much his junior, Hooker acted as his trainer and mentor on both a professional and social level. The age difference generally being the key hook of the partnership, the pair quickly became good friends and a great team.

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full Fun Show
Show was always fun to watch as a kid. Of course, now watching it you have to wonder why they did not call for backup whenever they were in pursuit. As far as the reason for only five (5) episodes in the first season I beleive the series was a mid-season replacement.

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_empty Cheesy, but fun
I loved this show as a kid, largely because I was a Shatner fan (from his Star Trek days), because I had a huge crush on Heather Locklear, and because this was an action-packed show about heroic cops. But, looking back on it today, I must say that it has to be one of the cheesiest cop shows ever made. Shatner played a larger-than-life tough-guy hero who spent as much time spouting conservative, tough-on-crime rhetoric as he spent chasing bad guys. The action was totally over-the-top. Shatner jumped onto moving vehicles so often during the show that it became a cliché (which he even parodied in a Saturday Night Live sketch). And Shatner's penchant for overacting is on full display from the very first scene of the first episode. Nonetheless, it's not a bad show, if you like lots of action without much dramatic depth. So, if you can put up with the cheese and the right-wing rhetoric, you should enjoy it well enough. Plus, you'll get to see a lot of Heather Locklear in her prime (though, unfortunately, she doesn't join the cast until the second season). [Note: There were only 5 episodes in the first season, for some reason.]
