I'm not usually into cop dramas, mainly because they fail to capture the overarching wierdness and sense of humor that keeps people sane in that sort of life. That said I love this show. Cops, EMTs, newspaper crime reporters, ER doctors... you all know what I'm talking about and what the general public fails to grasp. You haven't lived until you and your buddies have been thrown out of waffle house at 4am for laughing uproariously about a story with a dead naked guy, a near miss, or horrible bodily fluids. That scenario is rather this show in a nut shell. People do really bad stuff to each other and, when you're immersed in it day after day, it makes you odd. Unfortunately, that was a difficult concept for the network to pitch and they sort of rode the show's marketing into the toilet bowl of no return. So watch it, enjoy it, I hear that There's a DVD out there. Harold Perrineau was my personal favorite, but the entire cast was perfect.
