Well gee you dont really have to kill them do you? yeah he does..... Well aint that great, this story was a pain, and a little hard to follow. Ending made the whole agony of this show not even worth it, there were some good points, but not enough to redeem it. You like'em dark, here you go! The only thing that would have made me enjoy it would have been a better cure than death...like anything....anything at all. The fact is nearly every one had to die for this to come to an end? I could'nt grasp the sheer WTF!? of the story. I may have seen loads of anime, but nothing left me ready this let down ending(it was worse than the FMA original ending totaly F'ed up!).

Correction: "Instead of being delegated to amusing little anecdotes with little screen time, the viewer is forced to endure the wacky antics of the duo for the duration of most episodes. These antics are, at best, blah, considering all the other important events that seem to be going on OFF screen.

I will try not to give any spoilers.

The story is basic. Murders are ocuring in a government controlled, and segregated, city. A reporter goes to investigate. The investigation leads to the Skull Man and It's antagonists/prey.

The problem I have with the series is one of immersion. I don't feel I'm in a story OF the Skull Man. I feel as if I'm "someone trying TO get into the story of the skull man" Along with the reporter, I'm an outsider to the action. The reporter character and the sidekick don't really keep my interest. Instead of being delegated to amusing anecdotes, the viewer is forced to endure the wacky antics of the duo which are, at best, blah.

Anyways, is not a bad series and gets a passing grade

For those who do not know this show is the prequel to Shotaro Ishinomori Cyborg 009, the story is excellent and does it in only 13 episodes. A shame that Ishinomori died I would love to have seen a continuation of cyborg 009 or any side plots revolving around it. A must see for Cyborg 009 fans or anybody who likes a little mystery, action show.

From the way it is described, I was expecting an action-horror show. After watching the first few episodes, it's more of a murder-mystery drama with an element of fantasy. Like with all mystery shows, you have to keep track of all the characters/suspects and pay close attention to the details. Also, the show doesn't follow around the "anti-hero" Skull-man, but rather a journalist in a detective role.

Pretty standard anime fair, e.g. shikabane hime, gunslinger girl. - near future/distant present dark world vigilantism. Only 1.5 eps. in, seems to pick up the pace, will continue watching.
