So I take it there is a contract reason why they can't show mor than 5 episodes. If that is the case they should show 5 old episodes... so much better! I can and do watch new simpsons but I rarely...

Best television show of all time. And to all the people who are bashing it, you should try to come up with 19 seasons worth of material.

Not to seem intolerable of others opinions but I'm sick of all the complaining that the show sucks now. It's really a great show. I know this has been said before, but come on, why do you watch it if you hate it? I'm well aware that the show's format has changed from time to time but that is bound to happen to a show that has been on the air for this long.
Atleast Al Jean is there to keep the show running and Not Mike Scully, the guy that has been the main reason for the shows change from a "real family that deals with real problems" to just a "cartoon" that is much different. This is how I feel the shows format is broken down. Season 1 started it all. It may not give us those laugh out loud moments all the time but it brought those wonderful yellow people that we love so much from the Tracey Ullman Show and gave them well-rounded personalities. Then came Seasons 2-8 This time the show brought us more funny characters and the classic episodes that we laugh at even till this day no matter how much we watch them. This was the so-called "golden age" of the show. Season 9-12 (and a little bit of 13) was the time when Mike Scully reigned as the show runner. Yeah it was the time when the show changed to a horrible "cartoon". No!!! Though this did cause a format change. However, It stil brought us classic and very funny episodes. For example when Bart burns down the Christmas tree and hides it from the family making them think they were robbed causing the incident to be the main headline in the news in "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace" and when Barney became sober in "Days of Wine and D'oh'ses". Season 13-17 Al Jean did return as the show runner and the show was slowly moving toward the old days. The different writers probably had something to do with it. 18-19 showed an obvious fall in the shows progress because of The Simpsons Movie's production. Yes I'm aware the movie aired before season 19 but the season was being produced around the same time. But in my opinion the movie made up for it with a tremendous amout of laughs. Well after two mehh season the show came back with the big 20. This season to me seems like the show has been throwing out material from season 8. This has been a very refreshing season and I can't wait for the next 2 years (possibly longer than that, which wouldn't be surprising). So don't blame a perfectly good show. If you agree with me, please, click that this review was helpful if not click no. I apologize for the long rant.

This show has always stayed fresh, Matt Groening has always tried to keep the show on the current events of the day. The celebrity cameos help, but I think this show just keeps on getting better and I've watched EVERY show since the Tracy Ullman episode. This is a real classic show and can never get tired. I really like how they finally embraced HD for the show, it looks so awesome on my HDTV now. I have no HD cable service so streaming to my HDTV is the only DVR I have, I'm glad HULU.com is around. I like being able to catch up on all my shows most of all my beloved Simpsons. The reason I love the simpsons is they always have the best stories and things that make my extended family throw up :-) I like the edginess of the simpsons, they can't ever get stale. Homer and bart always fighting and choking each other never gets old. I hear "why you little...." in my sleep because I watch this how so much. I can't imagine life without the Simpson's. It would be very dull. I want HULU to show ALL the episodes ever made of the simpsons. I do like to watch the oldies. HULU can you modify the contract to show more episodes?? at least the last 2 seasons...

After watching one of the newer episodes of The Simpsons today, I think i realized why I haven't been enjoying the show lately. It isn't that some of the jokes aren't funny, or the stories aren't very good, I think it's just for the first 11 seasons were all pretty great shows. I think that this new evolution of the show would be more enjoyable to me if it was a different show with original characters involved in the plot. I just have come to expect something different... and frankly better... from my favorite Simpsons cast members

After watching the last few shows I think that perhaps the Simpsons have "jumped the shark." I can't put my finger on what exactly is missing, but after watching the latest "Treehouse of Horror" I have to say that it was really bad. It seemed rushed and well, not funny. The edge is gone. I've been watching since The Simpsons were "bumpers" on the Tracey Ullman Show. I wouldn't even watch Family Guy or American Dad because I couldn't see how they could surpass the wit and humor of The Simpsons. Sorry to say that's not the case any more. Maybe it's THAT time. Time to fold the tents and close up shop.

This was the most serious thing of my life... Hopefully this is just a once-in-a-season episode, because if this is a new direction for the show, they'll be losing a lot of consistent viewers...
And I'm not one of those "The old episodes are the best!" people who refuse to watch something because it's new without good reasion, I've actually liked the new episodes... but this was horrible. Look, if I wanted to watch a people-story I wouldn't be watching The Simpsons, because other shows already do that.
