This show has all of the obligatory elements, but they never seem to really work together. I will always love it because it contains (Episode 8) my favorite heroine-about-to-kick-ass-line: "Let me make it clear to you: I'm not very bright!" (Picture Monroe in "Some Like it Hot.") Other than cute characters you can feel good rooting for, this was kind of pointless, and the world-building seemed like a distraction or afterthought. Fan service, girl-crushes, cutesy fighters, tragic romance...for no other purpose than having them.

i tottaly afree with you. besides the naruto thing. i think it's more of a take on how the world would be like now with ninjas skipping around. but i tottaly get what you meen. on black butler, i'm pretty sure cars didn't exist. they didn't come around till the turn of the century. and then they had a cell phone. which was wrong a billion times over. good anime, but not good job with technology.

probably because you only looked up the dubbed episodes. there are all 12 in the subbed in case you haven't noticed yet.

The series was definately a thrill to watch every night for me, the storyline, the way the smithing was done and how they managed to stay in the middle age boundaries without random modern technology at certain points like in Naruto. The show is fantastic, but for me, it was a little too short. I'm not saying it should carry on like Bleach with 400 episodes and 250 of them being fillers, but just long enough to have more action and more of a developed storyline. But otherwise, fantastic job! :D

I really enjoyed this anime. I liked the storyline and the characters. I'm happy that certain parts of the story were hidden pretty well till revealed. I was very sad to only see 12 episodes and no more. I really hope they create a second season. It would be wrong not to with a lot of the story still unfinished. There are so many different directions they could go with this(fingers crossed for a second season)!

I enjoyed this series very much as the writer did his/her homework. The blacksmithing steps that were "taken" to produce a blade in the series are the same steps taken in reality. It was enjoyable to see!
