SARAH TOMPKINS (Parker Posey) has everything a fancy girl could want in life, except a baby. There's no husband, but she can do this without a husband. After all, she's done everything else without a husband. Then her doctor tells her that she can't have a baby. She can adopt, she can consider other options, but she can't do this herself. So Sarah tracks down her young sister, COCO TOMPKINS (Lauren Ambrose), and makes her a proposition. She will hire Coco to carry her child.

I had never heard of this show, until I saw it here. I saw that FOX canceled it after 3 episodes and figured it must be good (Wonderfalls, Firefly, Family Guy). The pilot started out a little slow, but once the characters were introduced I really started to like it. I think Parker Posey does a good job and I've always been a fan of Lauren Ambrose. So hopefully the rest of the episodes (assuming they filmed more) will appear on Hulu or at least DVD.
They cancelled this show quickly and for good reason. It's just not good. The writing is terrible. - The acting was fine and I'm sure the cast will go on to do better things.
I think it is a fabulous show. It is different enough from the other shows out there. it is a fun plot line and I would really like to see what happens.
The show was doomed from before it started for these reasons: Bad location (NYC vs Boston or Portland, OR) + totally mismatched men (anywhere in the cast) + poorly constructed script.
The whole project should have been outsourced to Canadian production company with 'no strings attached' -- a far better product would have resulted.
Thanks fox for canceling another one of your shows that I liked...cough....reunion....cough. Any way I liked this show a lot. Parker Posey is so quirky and I was just starting to get into everything going on in the show. I know that for anyone who hasn't seen a Palladino tv show before that they are hard to get used to with the really fast bantering going on. Gilmore Girls is a show I love, but it can still drive me crazy sometimes. Any way this show was just starting to hit it's stride and I hope at least they put up those episodes that were filmed, so people who enjoyed the show might see a little more. It couldn't hurt the network to show us something they have already paid for.
got cancelled after only 2 episodes!! (per the brass). I think Parker is the best, always have and have seen all her work, she's out next in a film, I do believe, but not 100percent sure, with the current SNL girls called Spring Break.....she'll always be the queen of sharp wit, this just didnt happen to be her vehicle, the other girl wasnt bad either, she'll likely be fine. too bad we couldnt have seen the resolution to the show! dammit. but oh well. Parker will always rule when it comes to sharp wit and great delivery!! go parker!!
This was supposed to be Amy Sherman-Palladino's return to writing for TV after her run on Gilmore Girls. It didn't quite work out as planned. Viewers didn't connect with the characters and the laugh track totally countered what could have been a great show.
Here's to hoping Amy Sherman-Palladino hears her fans and agrees to write a final TV movie for 'Gilmore Girls'. It'd be much better than this, trust me.
THe show was filmed infront fo a live audience so the laugh track is actual people. it does give a corny addition to the show I'll admit. I did extra work on this show (epi. 5!!) I agree with the statement about Michael Arden. He seemed really high strung the entire time in character which made me wonder if he was trying to come off as a really nervous person or just someone who feels like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. THe pilot was filmed in CA. the rest of it was filmed in Queens, so the set changed.. and it's gonna change again with newer episodes. hopefully by Epi 4 or 5 the set stays the same and things stay a little consistant. I think that the show has potential and it needs to be reviewed after the initial 6 episodes. there's not a lot of tv shows on now with the whole reality/game show craze taking over. so give the show a chance. I'm sure it'll come into it's own once it finds the right audience.
