I like this movie as a a kimd of afternoon relaxer (and I do like H.G. Wells a great deal), i am just responding to the "scientifically challenged" review that suggests Darwimism is a dead theory. First off, evolution has itself evolved and should respectively be called evolution, not Darwinism, but on the other hand, the major predictions (of which there are two) of Orgin of the Species still hold true. There is no debate within science, though there may be debates about the mechanism of evolution. For instance, natural selection is probably not enough to explain evolution, though it is important to note that Darwin understood this and makes a point to clarify this in his book. Perhaps folks with a problem with evolution, which I think stems from a misguided and bad approach to understanding language, i.e. literalists and if not x then yers, should read the damn book, and read material on science by real scientists, not Behe's and Dembskites. The idea that this Darwin's theory is in crisis or even suspect is a matter of socio-political theory and religious confusion, but a trip to the book store, like Barnes and Nobles, then a look on the science shelf and you will find plenty of current material that defines the current stance on Darwinism as well as a information to refute the notion that there has ever been any real problem with Darwin's essential claims at all. It is unacceptable that average people are so confused about one of the most seminal discoveried in science since Newton. Just putting one's fingers in one's ears and continuing to say the same thing as loud as one can doesn't change scientific methodology, or make one wiser. As far as not enjoying a movie on the basis that there is a Darwinian undertone, that is just ridiculous, It is a movie and is based first and foremost on imagination, a contingency for survival that after a long day at work, I find refreshing.
