Pet Peeves:
I am TIRED of the following in regard to Dresden Files:1. Book purists who whine about Murphy's hair. This is petty. The actress got the personality right and that should be what matters. The hair colour was NOT a major plot point. Valarie Cruz read the books and got the character. The blondes didn't. It's that simple. She was nominated for an ALMA for her portrayal of Murphy.2. I am SICK of people complaining that Bob should be a talking skull. Why? Just because that's what he was in the books does not make him better. Do a google search. The Hrothbert of Bainbridge ghost version of Bob has fan clubs. The skull... does not. The ghost version spawned fan fiction archives and livejournal groups.
The hard fact is non-book fans don't like the talking skull. It doesn't work well in a visual median. and it's just ludicrous to want a talking skull in replace of a classically trained Broadway icon doing snark. You're a rare and small group who want the talking skull. Get over it. Even book fans had a survey about the show and the best thing about the show had been listed as Terrence Mann's version of Bob. Instead of spending your time insulting an award winning, stage icon because you'd rather have a freakin' puppet do something productive with your lives.
I personally like the ghost because he reminds me of Sir Simon de Canterville from Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost and I love that character. Not to mention I, and several other Dresden Files TV show fans, like Terrence Mann.

4. People who complain about Harry's height / age. Have you done the math? Harry's pushing forty now in the books. The actor was thirty-five in the show. As for height goes, Paul Blackthorne is nearly six and a half feet tall. How much closer can you possibly get to Dresden's six foot seven (or eight) from the books? Seriously. Get a grip.5. People complaining that there's no mouse. Mouse wasn't introduced until book SIX. SIX! Got that? SIX! Storm Front is episode 8 and that's book 1. Even if the show followed the books Mouse would NOT exist yet.6. People saying Mister isn't there. Yes, he is. He's in Storm Front and the deleted scene on the DVD set. A forty minute show can't focus on the hero's pet.7. People complaining about Harry using technology. Umm... When? In the deleted scene he mentions technology doesn't like him and that he ruined a microwave. In Rules of engagement he shorts out a camera. In Storm Front he says technology doesn't like him. When a phone stops working he says 'Thanks, Technology, I hate you too.' Harry's inability to use modern technology is mentioned at the start of the Episode Walls. He also shorts out a phone in What about Bob. In Soul Beneficary Bob thoroughly talks about it as he theorizes about Dresden having a 'Core energy surge.' In fact it's peppered all through the series, how Harry can't use technology. If you missed this in the show you clearly were NOT paying attention.

8. The occasional person complaining about Bob having been more of an evil sorcerer when alive in the books. I have seen this complaint at least twice. What books were you reading? He's a sorcerer only for the show. Now you're just LOOKING for things to complain about.

9. People using the differences from the books to say 'No wonder it got canceled.' I HATE this above all else. The show had high ratings. It was the third highest rated show on Scifi during it's original run. No one knows why it was not renewed. There were time when it even beat the ratings on Battlestar Galactica. So don't claim to know why it was canceled and ESPECIALLY don't claim it was because it didn't follow the books. That's just stupid. At the time the show went into production only five books existed. That's not enough material for a whole TV series.
To add to this I HATE when these book purists ask if Robert Wolfe read the books. Yes, he did. He used to post over on Jim Butcher's forum.
