half of one of these episodes was based around martial arts. the end of the episode ended with one of the guys punching a little kid on the beach. im not saying that I expected these guys to be intelligent, but seriously, you're making a television show, the director should at least catch major f ups.sweet surfing. lame machomen attitudes. no women.

This show is awesome. It makes me miss the island so much. If you don't like this show its likely that you have never lived in Hawaii, and or you don't surf...or maybe your a feminist? Kala and the boyz did a cool thing just by giving people a glimpse into the magic. This is a good example of what it can be like to live, surf, and play on the north shore of Oahu. if your tight enough to roll with the boyz that is. The show could be compared to a "Dog-town" type series, as most of the Z-boyz got there roots from surfing, and the show carries a similar idea. If it had to be summed up I would say that it means: do what you love, do it well, and have respect for mother nature and your elders. Well done Looking forward to more seasons. A super nice look into the life as an, "insider" to one the best places on earth to live and surf.

Living in Maui, I can understand the importance of respecting the islands and all that they have to offer. Kala does his best to keep it real and his ego can add to the realism. I think that's just how it is. The braddah does a good job at narrating what is going on in the life of a local north shore pro-surfer. The bottom line is respect the islands and the people who call it home. I absolutely love watching the surfing not to mention the surfers :) We don't get waves like that on Maui, but we still love our north shore...Ho'okipa in da house!
