Chan Park hit the nail on the head. You can expect that 90% of raids aren't even on a crack house or the right building - the show won't show these of course but you know it happens all the time. Why shouldn't they have to pay for it?   See 5 other replies

You're aware that half the time they don't even find the subject and their "intel" is worthless, it's a TV show and they don't even find the guy the majority of the time. Imagine how many times it's just a miserable failure? You are saying that all those people deserve to pay for the damage to their home that SWAT caused, because of faulty intelligence? I was very surprised myself when I saw that after a raid they will go through and remove bars from windows. And many times after they do a pull, it rips a huge chunk of the house off with it. That is a -lot- of damage. I have a feeling that the police would have to repay whatever costs if the person would be found innocent.I don't understand why they are allowed to pull bars off of the windows after a raid though. Having bars on your windows is not illegal.To Honry - I don't see anyone saying that SWAT should not be going in and busting people for dealing drugs or selling firearms, but everyone in the US has certain rights and the police are not allowed to disregard them no matter how bad that person is. They must have a warrant and must be treated as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I'm fine ripping the side of a house off if the guy is later found to be guilty, but if they aren't guilty then the person being assaulted by the police should not have to pay damages.   See 5 other replies
