Video Settings

360p/480p default
Adjusting your default video stream requires signing up for a Hulu account. Once you log in to your account, click "Profile" in the top right corner of your browser. You'll see a series of tabs on top of your profile; click on "Privacy and Settings."

There are several options in the left-hand menu. To adjust your default video settings, scroll down to Video Settings (at the bottom of the menu). Selecting the "yes" option will automatically default video playback to the 1 Mbp, 480p stream, whereas selecting "no" defaults your video to the lower bandwidth 360p option.

Be sure to click "save" once you've determined which settings you prefer. Be sure to read our technical requirements link for viewing Hulu before you make your final decision.

Dual Monitors
Unfortunately, limitations with Adobe Flash prevent Hulu users from viewing videos in fullscreen mode in one screen while working in another. If you want to create a similar experience without the fullscreen functionality, you can load the video you want to watch, select the pop-out player option, move it to the monitor desired, and expand to fit your screen.

We will continue to work with Adobe to address this limitation.

Fullscreen Issues

If you're having trouble watching Hulu videos in fullscreen mode, try the following steps:

  1. Go to the Hulu.com homepage.
  2. Right-click on the masthead (the series of rolling images on the top of the page) and select the "Settings..." menu option.
  3. Click the first tab with the screen and paintbrush icon. You should see a checkbox that reads "Enable hardware acceleration."
  4. If it's currently checked, uncheck it. If it's currently unchecked, check it.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Try to play any video on Hulu and switch to full-screen mode.

If you're still unable to watch videos in fullscreen mode, please close your web browser and open it again. If this doesn't fix the issue, you may have an older version of Adobe Flash installed.

  1. Uninstall Flash following these steps.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Reinstall the latest version of Flash following these steps.
