Software Requirements
Hulu Desktop runs directly on your computer. The free software provides an alternate way to browse and view content from the Hulu library on your PC or Mac. Unlike Hulu.com, it does not require a web browser.
To watch videos using Hulu Desktop, you will need the following software installed on your computer:
You will also need to download and install Hulu Desktop software, available here. Hulu Desktop is currently only available for Mac and Windows PCs. It is not supported on Linux or on consumer electronic devices.
Hulu Desktop is also compatible with Apple and Windows Media Center remotes. Remotes that are compatible with Windows XP and Vista can be purchased at most electronics retailers.
Hulu Desktop will periodically perform automatic software updates. Using the latest version of Hulu Desktop will ensure optimal performance. As we make changes over time, older versions of Hulu Desktop may not be compatible with these versions.
Because Hulu Desktop operates on Flash, the latest version of Flash must be installed to function properly. You will only be prompted to install Flash if it is not already on your computer, or if you currently have an older version installed.
Account Settings
While no account is required to use Hulu Desktop, you may wish to set up an account to take advantage of several of the application's features, including access to your queue, history and subscriptions. When you log into Hulu Desktop, it will also store personalized settings such as playback quality and closed captioning preferences.
Your profile details, privacy settings and friends are not accessible from Hulu Desktop. You may update these features from your profile page on Hulu.com at any time.
Content Availability
Generally speaking, videos on Hulu.com will be available through Hulu Desktop. While our goal is to have the same content library available through all of our distribution channels, we work together with our partners to determine the availability of videos on these various channels.
