When you sign up for a Hulu Plus subscription or update your payment information on your Account page, our payment processor will attempt to confirm the information you entered is valid. Below are a few scenarios you may encounter, or questions you may have.
If you've recently signed up for a free trial with Hulu Plus, you may temporarily see a $1.00 charge on your statement. Don't worry, this is just an authorization hold to confirm the billing information you've submitted for your Hulu Plus account. This hold is instantly reversed and is never collected by Hulu. Because the authorization is reversed in less than a second, it's possible not to notice it on your statement at all. However, you may see one of these holds on your statement as a pending transaction for up to 5 days (some banks take a little longer to release them).
If you've recently updated your payment information for your Hulu Plus account, you may see a $1.00 charge (sometimes along with the regular monthly charge of $7.99 fee). Don't worry, this is just an authorization hold to confirm the new billing info you've submitted for your account. This charge is instantly reversed back to your account and is never actually collected by Hulu. Some banks take a little longer than others to fully reverse this, but you shouldn't see it on your statement for more than 5 days.
If you've been unable to signup for Hulu Plus, you may still see a $1.00 authorization hold on your statement. This sometimes happens if the credit card number entered during signup is correct, but the billing address doesn't match the one your bank has on file. In this case, we'd recommend double checking all the information your bank has for you, then trying again. The pending authorizations should disappear from your statement within 5 business days.
