"Motion Comics" didn't catch on in the late 60's when Marvel tried it last. I grew up in the 80's loving those old 60's Marvel "Cartoons" for their more mature, "fresh-off the pages" story quality, but like most kids, I thought the "animation" (if you could call it that) sucked compared to the "catches thieves, just like flies" Spider-man series.
But as I'm getting older and the eyesight ain't what it used to be, I'd probably pay good money to see Frank Miller's Batman or Electra done online, or any number of new and/or old titles. The colors they can produce nowadays, in addition to the kinds of blood-splattering stories they can tell offer a lot of potential for this medium. Ideally, I prefer the Hulu experience to a monthly subscription (as Hulu only costs you a few short ads), but the quality of editing and sound has clearly improved since the early days of "Doc Bruce Banner, belted by Gamma rays..." and I only hope they put out more of this kind of thing. Hope all the big name characters aren't mired-down.
Between a monthly subscription to Spider-man comics, or a monthly subscription to the "motion-comic" equivalent, which would you choose? For me, if I could pay $20 bucks a month and get a whole range of cutting-edge motion-comics to choose from, I'd shell that money out faster than a speeding bullet. This Spider-woman story was well written, well-drawn, and well-produced; just hope they make more like it. Excelsior, guys; great job. Eight thumbs up.
