I put off watching this for years because it looked like dumb cheesecake, but then I watched the whole thing today. it was awesome and I had the same question just now myself.

Per the link above, there are only the two anime 13 ep series out from Japan, but the author is still writing the last story arc for the novels. At the time of the 2nd series, it was top of the list for Anime in Japan, so probably at least they will do an OVA if the story arc is any good at all.

Whether it will be licensed by Funimation and shown on Hulu is another question, but it doesn't exist right now. Right now you'd have to get / read the books from Yen Press, but I don't know if the English novels are caught up either. http://www.yenpress.com/series/#S

I have noted how people have complimented the accuracy of the settings, the cultures, the fact that this anime is based on a trading them, not a love theme/action theme. It makes you put your thinking cap on just to follow it.

This series is richly detailed in the story that unfolds between these two characters. It had me always wanting to know how they will do next and this is actually the FIRST anime that has ever made me cry...and I'm a dude... This has a great stroyline that is easily distinguished from most other series and I'm very glad I watched it! ^_^

Yeah the merchant side of the anime is hard to wrap your mind around at first, but the relationship between the two characters is the essence of the anime, and I like the way it was done. I found the 2 seasons refreshing from typical stuff that is put out, and the change of pace from I usually watch.

This series is worth watching just for the artwork, and the relationship of the protagonists, however I really think this is the oddest anime ever made. Not because it has magic, or deities or anything like that but because of the central place trade and currency value has on the plots. Honestly my head was constantly spinning trying to understand the financial machinations involved in the plot lines.

It doesn't get bogged down in money like a Role Playing Game can, rather, the financial interests of our heroes, the guilds, feudal lords and the church are what you must understand in order to understand anything at all about this story. Who is selling what to whom, who has what contract and how much currency you can pump into an economy in order to move it for your own benefit all are important. It's one line description would read something like: Pagan Goddess Hottie Teaches Bumpkin Futures Trading 101.
