Description

Just finished watching both seasons (series?) of Spaced and have to say I was very impressed with the heart and charm this show had. I wish that American TV would learn from shows like this.

The performances from the cast were stellar and the writing was clever and witty, which is more than I can say for recent American fare.

Now I'm going to watch Green Wing.

It isn't that Britain has a small pool of actors; its just that Edgar Wright (the director) and Simon Pegg like to work together. When they wrote Shaun of the Dead, they decided to have a lot of their old friends in it, like Nick Frost and Jessica Hynes. Its like how Tim Burton likes working with Johnny Depp. Its really common. Sure, what a calculated estimation, that Britain has got a small pool of "comedy-type" actors because a few of the same ones starred in a few of the same things together.

I suppose that the only comedic American actors are Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell and the like? See 7 other replies

I loved him in Green Wing as well as Spaced.

Whats weird is that he looked so much younger in spaced, but he was already 43-44 years old! I would have placed him closer to 30..

Seems so many great British shows just get cut off or are planned for just two seasons. In a way I respect that they make the decision for quality vs quantity, but when a show is truly well-done, im curious why they feel they need to end so abruptly...

The actress that plays Caroline Todd is also part of the "other" group in SOTD.

Seems britain has a very small pool of comedy-type actors to choose from, or they all just like to work with one another. See 7 other replies
