Crap when compared to the original Perkins was far better than Vaune. Overall it suck when compared to Hitchcock's vision.

I'm so glad I didn't rent this
This was one of the most horrible films I have ever seen. Anne Heche was the only decent actress in the movie, and she died before it was over. I would complain about getting the 2 hours back of my life I wasted watching this, but it was free and nobody forced me to. Love the Hulu site in general, however.

Take Out Vaughn
Now don't get me wrong I like Vince Vaughn, but He's no Anthony Perkins. He just doesn't fit, the other actors were great but, someone else should of played Norman Bates, and I know who too, Ralph Fiennes, watch Red Dragon, and you'll see, his characters in it is a lot like Norman Bates, he would have been perfect, He even reminds me of Perkins a lot.

Most people don't get this.
For the most part, this is a shot by shot, line by line reconstruction of Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece. Years ago, I read about how Hunter Thompson studied writing by spending hours and hours obsessively copying Faulkner word for word in longhand. After years making quirky independent films, Gus Van Sant had finally produced a major moneymaker with "Good Will Hunting". He could have made anything he wanted after that, and he chose this meticulous deconstruction of one of the most precise cinematic masterpieces of all time. Anyone with a serious interest in film will gain a deeper insight into the consumate technique of the original. Everyone else should stay away. And if you've never seen the original, by all means, go rent it right now!
