Just adding on to that. Tax law is crazy complicated and something that many people don't think about is how many taxes you have to pay for receiving "awards". I don't know all the ins-n-outs but receiving too much @ Thor: "free" money can have some crazy consequences. You have no idea how hard people have worked to get where they are, how much money they have committed to other philanthropic ventures, or how the law and taxes will impact the people receiving the money. Learn all the details and THEN cast your judgment. Maybe you're right, but maybe you're coming way out of left field.

I'm just curious what opportunities to volunteer have any of you done after seeing this show, or before. That was the real purpose. To get us up off our butts and doing for others, no matter the size of our bank account.

at first i thought this show looked dumb. I didn't think it was going to be anything too impressive. I am currently watching this last episode with Alli and.... man, it is bringing me to tears. This is a great show. Definitely worth the time to watch at least one episode.

So, the way I see it is its a win, win, win situation. Of course its great publicity for the people in the show, its good for the network and good for the non-profits who not only get some money but also some great exposure. Hopefully the show inspires some philanthropy on behalf of the viewers. See 2 other replies
