Secret Investigation Record

(First of all,sorry for my bad english,it's not my first language).
Many people before the existence of the american series X-Files have already seen UFO stories on television. Why did they like X-Files, then? One of the answer is that XFiles had a great approach on the subject. When it comes to good movies and series, it's not necesarily about new concepts,it's more about how the concepts are approached .If the approach is interesting, it wont matter that the concept is not a new one. XFiles is the best example: although the story was not new at that time,the approach was very interesting so the final product was amazing.
This brings me to Secret Investigation Record. This series is also about well-known concepts : monsters, UFOs, diseases, conspiracies, cults, black arts, vampires, resurrection, time traveling, prophets,etc. We'll all seen this stuff. What makes it special is, once again,a sensational approach on the subjects. People from year 1600 period are about to face all those strange occurrences mentioned above, it's a trully amazing twist in a one-of-a-kind series and probably one of the most original series of the last 5 years. Apart from the already-discussed elements which made the series top notch (breathtaking cinematography,brilliant script etc.),the innovative approach on these already-known subjects makes it a masterpiece .
Secret Investigation Record usually has a limited audience because it's at a much higher intellectual level than XFiles. So watch it only if you like thought provoking stuff. Film student should also watch this if they want to learn more about cinematic techniques,image and so on.
Have fun with this drama,and watch it in HD ,totally worth it!

They use old English and a lot of words that people do not use everyday, words like retinue :)It's a little annoying that they have a Mulder, a Scully, and even a Smoking Man. There's a little humor thrown in here and there, enjoy it while it lasts, and then continue to be thrown into situations without warning. Things happen without proper introduction and it takes a while to catch on, but I'm guessing they wrote it that way to make it stand out. I did not particularly like it because X-Files ended, we already found out what the truth that was out there was, so this seems like reheated food. I'm watching Fringe, so X-Files is like an ex-boyfriend who is no longer exciting for me. Unfortunately, Secret Investigation Record is like that ex-bf who just makes my heart flatline rather than skipping a beat. I know it sounds cheesy but the entire feel of the show is cheesy. The thing that will convince me to go past episode 3 which is where I am, is that some people said there were some unexpected twists and turns, one of which I saw at the end of episode 2. Also, the cases are based on actual records, so they are not just pulling stuff out of thin air. Paranormal activity has been recorded by humans for eons, so it's always interesting to see how different cultures and time periods interpret what they say. If all else fails, watch it for the hot main character. If you don't like him here, watch him in 'Stars Falling From the Sky'. He still has the same sneer that he had on that show, as though someone just farted on his face. *I am amused that they mashed sci-fi and a historical drama, definitely worth watching the train wreck/great idea, whichever way you look at it.

I have left my review three times for this and still it doesn't show up, so hopefully this time it will go through.Short and sweet. I love this show as much as I loved X-Files. It is interesting to see this genra in a different country and time and to be done so well. Any X-Files fan will like this show, too.
