In the beginning you wonder why the FTOs are so harsh, demanding, and critical. Then you realize its to keep the rookies safe on the job. FTOs were rookies at one time and have made deadly mistakes too. Near the end of their probationary time you can see how proud the training officers are; but still a little worried. These officers know that any one of them may not be coming home tonight and the more experienced officers are doing their best to make sure its not their rookie or themselves. Sadly, for one rookie, all the training in the world can't save him. Thank you to everyone whose job is to keep citizens safe; at home and abroad.
