Princess Tutu

I've watched this so many times and it absolutely has to be one of my top fav animes. Especially all the twisted fairytales!!

I'll admit this is a weird story. When I try explaining it to someone I feel like I'm describing some weird dream I had that made perfect sense at the time but not so much in the retelling. It's a cross between Sailor Moon, Ballet, and Classic Fairy Tale stories... that's the nearest I can describe it.Well animated, the dialog is great in both original and dub, and beautiful sound track. The story is a bit confusing at the beginning, and sometimes it seems a bit.. cliche.. but you realize very early on that there's more going on than first appears. The ending is.... not what I expected. I admit it made me sad, but only because I was hoping for... something else. (Can't say without spoiling it.)I highly recommend it. If you like shoujo (girl romance novels) and you enjoy something that's a bit on the silly side, you will love this series. It's well worth your time. :)

I have seen this series 3 times already and I never get bored of it... this is just amazing! Though it may come across as a chibbi kids story.. it really isn't. It has this thrilling darkside that keeps you mesmerized. I would have to say that the music is just amazing! Nothing like Tchaichovsky to keep you involved in the story line, and the choreography.. well lets just say that I love the ballet choreography!!! Princess tutu performing the par de deux is just completely amazing!! Romance, comedy action.. its got it all. This series will steal your heart and make you want to watch consecutively without stop! I seriously recommend this to everyone~~

Princess Tutu is an amazing children's cartoon that has a dark side which caters to older audiences. The inspiration is from traditional ballet which Princess Tutu uses for its own score. Each Episode is named after a ballet and the music of which will be featured in that episode's score.The story starts out like a children's fairy tale (think Disney) but as the plot progresses it starts to take on more and more of the qualities of the ballet it inspires from (think the darker side of Fairy Tales like the original renditions of Grimm's work). This show never crosses the boundary of not being children friendly but as the plot deepens you as an adult will find the series more and more interesting. Making this a great series to watch as a family. The series incorporates various themes and morales in its plot. The biggest one being the definition of fate and what it means to fight ones destiny. At times you will see the characters fighting destiny at other times accepting destiny as both play a part in life. I found this series a gem to watch and would recommend it to anyone young and old.

Well at the beginning I was confused, thinking "huh? what? I don't understand! She's a duck?" but despite my confusion and the afore mentioned "duck" girl acting like a complete spaz, i continued to watch and it does get better as it goes along. so mostly i'd say it wasn't at all for a casual anime watcher, but if you're used to that type of genre and happen to be in the mood for something off-the-wall, goofy, yet romantic and heartwarming, this isn't half bad. So enter with caution because it does settle on the side of bizarre.
